The Delaware Valley Chapter of the Hobby Greenhouse Association is an organization of novice to master growers dedicated
to the furtherance of giving and obtaining knowledge in all aspects of greenhouse and indoor growing. Members find their membership to be the best value they can obtain from any organization anywhere. This value comes from the many dedicated volunteers who contribute so much of their
time, knowledge, experience and plant materials to the membership. To enhance
this value, guest speakers and other professionals are brought in to present some meeting programs.
Each of our five meetings annually follows this general format.
9:00 AM
Refreshments and Snacks “ Meet new friends”
9:30 AM
Business Meeting
Attendance Prize
Mystery Plant Solution
Show n’ Tell
Plant Raffle
Program Speaker, Workshop, etc.
12 noon
Board meeting (All are welcome}
In addition to the five scheduled meetings, usually on the third Saturday of September,
November, January, March and June, a plant auction is held in May. The
well-attended auction provides members with the opportunity to expand their collection, dispose of surplus plants and help
fund our chapter activities. A flower show has become a favorite, to show off members’ expertise in growing plants. Most years a trip to a horticultural site of interest is conducted, often subsidized
by the chapter. Twice the chapter has been the site of the National Hobby Greenhouse
Association Convention.
Our chapter is successful
because our members are dedicated and participate. Although we have a dedicated
core of members and founders, everyone is encouraged to participate in any activity.
All of us, the members of the Delaware Valley Chapter, welcome you and hope you will find our community of hobbyists
to be the best horticultural value you can find anywhere.
